Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Publicly-listed cellular phone operator PT XL Axiata Tbk. (XL) in the nine months through September posted a net profit of Rp2.2 trillion, up by 5 percent from the same period last year.

The net profit was chiefly fueled by the company`s income which grew 8 percent to Rp13.96 trillion, XL President Director Hasnul Suhaimi said in a press statement on Friday.

Strong data services were responsible for the rising income, he said.

"We have consistently focused on data services which grew 50 percent compared to the year before. Right now the number of our data service users reaches more than a half of the number of our customers," he said.

He said XL had just signed a loan agreement with Bank Mandiri for Rp3 trillion payable in three years. The fund was mostly used to repay debts.

The company`s debt-to-equity ratio remained sound reaching 0.7 times, he said. (*)
