"If the implementation of the summit is better than the previous ones in another countries, it will have a significant impact on Indonesia`s image among ASEAN member countries and in the eyes of international community," international observer from Udayana University, I Made Anom Wiranata, said in Denpasar on Friday.
Anom said that to host the ASEAN Summit, Indonesia would have a a decisive role to determine the direction of the organization in the future.
From the bargaining position in economic field, he said Indonesia would be more familiar to other countries because the ASEAN summit would be covered by the media from various countries.
"With increased intensity of the good news, it will increase international confidence in Indonesia," Anom said.
He added that the discussion of nuclear-free zone at East Asia Summit, coupled with the ASEAN Summit, would be of great significance in creating peace and conducive situation.
"Peace in neighboring countries is peace in the country concerned, and if the nuclear-free zone is really agreed, it will mean that Indonesia has also contributed to world peace," he noted.
