Franklin reached the finish line first clocking 20.93 seconds to win the gold medal.
This was the second gold medal he won after claiming to be the fastest runner in Southeast Asia from the 100 meter sprint to improve his best record of 21.27 seconds made last year.
"Today I was very happy as what I did was not useless. I was proud I could improve my best record from 21 to 20 seconds," he said after finishing the race.
Although he could win a gold medal Franklin`s record was still below the SEA Games record made by Reachai Seeharwong from Thailand in 2009 who clocled 20.69 seconds.
For Triyaningsih this was also her second gold medal after she earlier won a gold medal from the 10,000 meter women`s event.
She finished the 5,000 meter women`s run in 16:06.36 to win a gold medal, followed by Thai Phyu War Thet who won a silver medal clocking 16:12.23.
"I am very glad I could make a hat trick in the 5,000 meter run. I would dedicate my victory to the late father Iyas Sadeli and mother Ngatiyateni who came here to watch," she said. Triyaniningsih also won the event in the 2007 and 2009 SEA Games.
