Bogor, W Java (ANTARA News) - Indonesia grabbed 10 gold medals in the 26th SEA Games paragliding events which were completed in the Puncak area, Bogor, West Java Province, Sunday.

To Indonesia the results are quite satisfactory because they exceed the country`s target of five medals, Indonesian coach Dharmawan Sirin said here on Monday.

He admitted that Thailand was superior in the men`s race to goal event.

"Thailand has Surayuth who is a very experienced paraglider with several international championships to his name," he said.

Winners in the Women`s accuracy landing individual event were: 1. Cherry Bonaria (Indonesia) 523 points, 2. Lis Andriana (Indonesia) 623, 3. Kurniawati Ifa (Indonesia) 708.

Winners in the men`s accuracy landing individual event were: 1. Thomas Widiyanto (Indonesia) 17, 2. Dede Nisbah (Indonesia) 53, 3. Lilik Dharmono (Indonesia) 79.

In the women`s accuracy landing team event , the winners were : 1. Indonesia 1585, 2. Thailand 6892, 3. Malaysia 9720.

Winners in the men`s accuracy landing team event : 1. Indonesia 135, 2. Thailand 1832, 3. Malaysia 3372.

The 26th SEA (Southeast Asian) Games, which was officially opened by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in Palembang on November 11, is taking place in Palembang, South Sumatra, and Jakarta, until November 22, 2011.

The event comprises competitions in 44 sport branches and offers 542 gold medals to winners. This year`s biennial event is the fourth hosted by Indonesia.

The Indonesian contingent consists of 1,582 athletes and officials. Of the total, 650 athletes will compete in the games in Jakarta. (*)
