Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Malaysia`s Defense Minister Dato Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi has said his country always wanted to promote better and stronger ties with Indonesia.

"And it needs support and commitment from all national elements both of Malaysia and Indonesia," Minister Hamidi said here Sunday evening.

He admitted the two countries were still facing a number of problems among other things concerning both nations` border and Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia.

"However, don`t exaggerate those problems that could affect the sound relations between the two countries. Even the problem could be politicized by a third party who did not like the sound relations between Malaysia and Indonesia," he said.

Every element both in Malaysia and Indonesia must be committed to the strong bilateral ties in all fields, he said.

"Not only government-to-government, but also politician-to-politician, business-to-business, and people-to-people, the two nations must have commitment to intensifying the sound and stronger bilateral relations," he said.

Malaysia and Indonesia would not go to war despite those problems, he said.

"In the past, when Indonesia had launched confrontation against Malaysia, Adam Malik had once said Indonesia and Malaysia would not go to war if one of the party did not agree with the war," he said.

He said both countries shared a similar race, language and culture.
