Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Presidential spokesman Julian Aldrin Pasha here on Saturday denied reports that Aulia Pohan, former deputy governor of Bank Indonesia, had been arrested in Switzerland.

Julian said in a short text message that Aulia Pohan was in Indonesia, so the report was untrue.

"We confirm that the report is incorrect and based on slander because Aulia Pohan is in Jakarta," Julian wrote.

Media reports recently said that Aulia Pohan, the father-in-law of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono`s son, had been detained in the European country.

Pohan, who was arrested in November 2008, was sentenced to four and a half years imprisonment in 2009 for embezzling 100 billion rupiah ($11.14 million) in 2003 from the bank`s Indonesian Banking Development Foundation.

The money was used to "smooth" the political settlement of a massive loan scandal involving the bank`s liquidity support funds, as well as to push through approval of an amendment to the Bank Indonesia Law in the House of Representatives.
