Sleman, Yogyakarta (ANTARA News) - Adisutjipto Airport relocation plan from Sleman district to Kulon Progo district is still

in the stage of a feasibility study, PT Angkasapura-I spokesperson Isye Yuviana said here on Friday.

He said the plan to relocate Adisutjipto airport has been confirmed in a memorandum of understanding between Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X and PT Angkasa Pura-I President Director Tommy Soetomo.

"But the policy is still in the stage of feasibility study to develop Adi Sutjipto airport into an international airport that can accommodate bigger aircraft such as Air Bus," Isye said.

According to her, the runway of an international airport should be at least 3,000 meters long but that of Adisucipto was only 2,250 meters and therefore it could not accommodate an Air Bus plane.

"The development of Adisutjipto airport is limited to the expansion of the international terminal which is planned to start early 2012," Isye added.
