Banda Aceh (ANTARA News) - The Aceh Besar district`s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) records 11 aftershocks jolting Aceh province after it had been hit by a 7.1-magnitude quake in Wednesday at 01.36 local time.

"There have been 11 aftershocks with an average magnitude of three to five Richter in scale," agency`s operational staff Satrio said here on Wednesday.

Satrio said report on material loss due to the Wednesday earthquake had yet been reported.

Earlier, a 7.1-magnitude earthquake hit Aceh on Wednesday morning at 01.36 local time. The quake was centered as 2.41 northern longitude and 93.09 eastern latitude 334 kilometers southwest of Simeulue district at the depth of 10 kilometers.

A tsunami warning was made shortly after the first earthquake but BMKG revoked it at 03.24.
