Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Ari Sigit, a grandson of former President Soeharto, is facing a police investigation for alleged fraud at the expense of the management of a PT Krakatau Steel subsidiary.

Senior Commissioner Rikwanto, a spokesman of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Headquarters, confirmed on Friday, the police had received a report on the embezzlement of Rp2.5 billion allegedly committed by Ari Sigit.

The police had scheduled a questioning session with Ari on Friday (Jan 13), Rikwanto said in short text message. But he did not know at what time the questioning would take place.

Adjunct Senior Commissioner Helmy Santika of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police`s criminal investigation department, said Sigit had been reported by the management of PT Krakatau Wajatama in his capacity as head of PT Dinamika Daya Andalan (Dinamika).

PT Krakatau Steel Wajatama had appointed Ari`s company as the executor of a landfill project in Cilegon, Banten and paid Dinamika Rp2.5 billion as a warranty on the job.(*)
