Kano, Nigeria (ANTARA News/Xinhua-0ANA) - Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has reiterated the commitment of the Federal Government toward tackling terrorism in the country.

The Federal Government will not rest on its oars until this act of terrorism is wiped out from the country, the Nigerian leader said when he paid a condolence visit to the Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, in his palace in Kano on Sunday.

President Jonathan said the Federal Government would do everything possible to strengthen the security of the entire country.

According to him, the Federal Government will collaborate with the Kano State Government to assist the families of the injured and those who lost their lives in the Friday bomb blasts.

He advised Nigerians to expose suspected characters by reporting them to security agencies for appropriate action.

Earlier, the Emir of Kano told President Jonathan that the emirate would support any measure the Federal Government would take to bring to an end such ugly incidents.

Bayero then called on the Federal Government to deploy additional security agents to the state, especially the police in view of the fact that the existing 8,000 policemen in the state were grossly inadequate.

The Nigerian leader was in Kano to commiserate with the government and people of the state over the Jan. 20 Boko Haram sect attacks in the state.

Meanwhile, the state government has relaxed the 24-hour curfew imposed on the state following Friday`s bomb blasts that rocked parts of the Kano metropolis.

State commissioner for information Umar Jibril, announced the relaxation to newsmen in Kano, saying the curfew would now take effect from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time.

Jubril said the measure was meant to allow the people to conduct their activities within the scheduled period, and thanked them for complying with the initial curfew.

The militants coordinated attacks in Kano State killed at least 150 people. The Boko Haram sect claimed responsibility for the attacks.
