President Yudhoyono said the presence of an infrastructure bank was of a great importance to ensure the availability of infrastructure funds in the Master Plan for the Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesia`s Economic Development (MP3EI).
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono chaired a limited cabinet meeting at his office on Wednesday to discuss the establishment of a special bank that could provide funds for infrastructure development.

Attended by Vice President Boediono, the limited cabinet meeting was held for Coordinating Minister for Economy Hatta Rajasa and Bank Indonesia, the central bank Governor Darmin Nasution to explain the readiness to establish an infrastructure bank.

In his introduction before starting the meeting, President Yudhoyono said the presence of an infrastructure bank was of a great importance to ensure the availability of infrastructure funds in the Master Plan for the Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesia`s Economic Development (MP3EI).

"In the limited cabinet meeting in the field of economy, we will discuss a number of issues related to banking, more specially about the plan and policy to establish a kind of infrastructure bank," the president said in his introduction.

According to the president, the presence of an infrastructure bank was an important part of economic development that should be launched immediately if its concept of implementation had been drawn up.

The head of state added that the infrastructure bank would guarantee the implementation of every project in the Master Plan for the Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesia`s Economic Development.

"The MP3EI is the priority to build infrastructure across Indonesia because we have had plan and policy and the groundbreaking has been done. But we have to ensure the matters related to the presence of an infrastructure bank," the president said.(*)
