The minister made the remarks after he installed the executives of the National Mandate Party (PAN) for West Sumatra on Saturday.
The minister said that he supported very much the idea of the West Sumatra governor to build a toll road, hoping that it would be realized immediately.
He said that if the toll road had been constructed traffic jams in West Sumatra could be overcome. The travel time could be shortened, for example, the section of Padang to Bukittingi which usually took a two or three hour drive could be covered in one hour.
"This will also bring a positive impact on the development of the local people`s economy," the coordinating minister for economic affairs said.
He said that in carrying out the development of toll road the regional government should think of the problem of how to clear the lands of the people.
"The most crucial thing in the construction of a toll road is land clearance. The speedy land clearance is the key to the success of the development of a toll road project," he added.
