Medan (ANTARA News) - More and more Indonesians are studying in the United States and in 2012 their number has reached 7,000, which may increase further.

This was revealed by deputy head of mission of the US embassy in Jakarta Theodore G. Osius at a meeting with chief editors and journalists in Medan on Monday night.

The meeting was attended by US Consul for Sumatra in Medan Kathryn Crockart and Antara`s North Sumatra bureau chief Simon Pramono and other invitees.

Theodore said the increasing number of Indonesians studying in the US was thanks to the cooperation between the two countries in education.

He also said that the Indonesian students in the US not only came from Java, but also from Aceh and North Sumatra.

The number of Indonesians studying in the US continued to increase every year.
