"So, he does not have political ambition to run for president in 2014. If a party wishes to nominate him, he will turn down the offer," Yopie said.Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vice President Boediono will not run for president in 2014, his spokesman, Yopie Hidayat, said here on Friday.
"So, he does not have political ambition to run for president in 2014. If a party wishes to nominate him, he will turn down the offer," he said at the vice presidential palace.
Yopie made the statement in response to the Indonesia Survey Institute (LSI) survey results that put Boediono`s ability to be elected in the seventh rank, above Surya Paloh and Hatta Rajasa, respectively, collecting 3.0 percent, 2.6 percent and 2.2 percent of all votes.
The results of LSI`s last survey, announced on Thursday, Feb 23, indicated that former president Megawati is ranked first with 15.2 percent votes, followed by former military commander Prabowo Subianto (10.6 percent), former vice president Jusuf Kalla (7.0 percent), party leader Aburizal Bakrie (5.6 percent), Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono (4.9 percent) and former military leader Wiranto (3.9 percent).
Yopie said Vice President Boediono has repeatedly said that his current position would be his final opportunity to serve the country.
Yopie noted that Vice President Boediono is working at his best for the country. "What is important now is his working," he said.(*)
