Palembang, South Sumatra (ANTARA News) - Indonesia`s women`s sepak takraw team finished fourth after losing to Vietnam 1-3 in the International Sepak Takraw Super Series championships here on Sunday.

The Indonesian women`s team could not do much as their opponents were too strong to defeat in the tournament held at the Palembang Sport and Convention Center in South Sumatra from February 23-26.

Indonesia scored 12 and Vietnam 15 in the first match.

The Indonesian team continued to do their best to keep their performance equal to their opponents`. As a result, Indonesia equalized Vietnam 15-12 in the second match.

However, the Vietnamese team changed their strategy and won in the third match 15-7.

Indonesia fielded Nur Qadri, Rike MS, Mega Citra and Leni and Vietnam fielded Lai Thi Huyen, Nguyen Thi, and Le Thi Tam in the event.

The Indonesian team again lost 12-15 to Vietnam in the last match.

With the defeat, the Indonesian women`s team finished fourth, while Vietnam emerged as the third champion.

Malaysia`s and Japan`s women`s teams respectively finished fifth and sixth.

The world sepak takraw tournament brought together nine men`s teams and six women`s teams.

Also on Sunday, Indonesia`s men`s sepak takraw team outclassed South Korea 3-1, enabling them to secure third place in the tournament.

Indonesia`s men`s team consisted of Abrian, Syamsul Hadi, Saiful and Nofrizal and South Korea fielded Kim Young Man, Jeong Won, Kim Min Ho and Shin Ham Young.
