Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Bali is to host the 8th Food, Hotel and Tourism exhibition next March 1-3 at the Nusa Dua Convention Center, a spokesperson of the event`s organizer, PT Pamerindo Indonesia, said here on Monday.

"This biennial exhibition is the largest event ever held and will be attended by 498 participants from 33 countries including some major brands such as Unilever, King Koil, Hankook, Lotus Food Services and Nirwana Lestari," Astrid, a PT Pammerindo Indonesia spokesperson said.

She said the event was held amid a boom in the hotel and restaurant industry in Bali and in the hope that related companies will be able to display their products at the exhibition.

Astrid added the Food, Hotel and Tourism exhibition would also feature a culinary competition with 250 Indonesian chefs taking part. The competition would be in hot food presentations, table dressing and fruit, vegetable and ice carving.

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Mari Elka Pangestu was expected to inaugurate the exhibition, she said.

Meanwhile, Vice Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sapta Nirwandar expressed appreciation for the holding of the exhibition saying that traditional cuisine was one of the important factors that can help promote Indonesian tourism.
