Bandung, West Java (ANTARA News) - DS, the man who attacked public prosecutor Sistoyo with a knife at the Corruption Court here Wednesday claims he had earlier wanted to hurt Sistoyo`s colleague, Sirus Sinaga, police said.

"DS appears to have been a watcher of corruption cases. Actually he had earlier wanted to harm public prosecutor Sirus Sinaga but after he heard Sirus had already been sentenced, his attention turned to Sistoyo who was still being tried in court," Bandung city police spokesperson Commissioner Endang Sri Wahyu Utami said here Wednesday.

Sirus who came in the public spotlight for the first time as prosecutor of former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chief Antasari Azhar in 2010 later got into trouble with the law himself after he proved to have helped tax office employee Gayus Tambunan receive a lighter-than-appropriate sentence in a tax evasion case.

DS attacked Sistoyo from behind with a 25-cm-long knife causing the latter to sustain a slash wound to his forehead. The incident happened outside the room where Sistoyo had attended a Corruption Court hearing as the defendant in a bribery case.

According to DS in his statement to the police, his action was meant to give a "shock therapy" to corrupters in the country in general whom he considered to be traitors of the people`s trust.

The police had not yet named DS a suspect in the attack on Sistoyo as he was still being questioned, Endang said.

Sistoyo, a public prosecutor in Cibinong, West Java, is on trial for allegedly having received a bribe from a businessman involved in a property dispute.
