Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Jakarta police have arrested another man over the recent daring heist at four jewelry shops in Ciputat, south Jakarta, bringing the number of suspects in their custody so far to four.

"This time we caught Toni who was part of the robbers` gang. He was not at the scene of the robbery but had done the reconnoitering before the action," Jakarta Metropolitan Police spokesman Senior Commissioner Rikwanto said on Thursday.

Toni was nabbed in Serang, Banten, on Wednesday (Feb 29) based on clues extracted from three suspects arrested before, he said.

The police had taken in the three on Monday (Feb 27) near a bus terminal in Cirebon, West Java, where they were about to escape to East Java. They were identified as Edi Sumarno, Suratno and Muhammad Ibrahim.

Rikwanto said investigators had seized an assortment of things from the suspects, including Rp291.66 million in cash, three mobile phones, two bags, four motor cycles and one car,

The armed robbery at four jewelry shops in Ciputat happened on Friday (Feb 24) at about 12.30 West Indonesian Time. Police could not immediately estimate the loss suffered by the shop owners.

Rikwanto said the robbery was carried out by 11 men. Eight of them approached the shops on four motor cycles and did the looting while the three others waited in a car near the crime scene.
