Bogor, West Java (ANTARA News) - Mass food poisoning that causes 170 people in Cilebut, Bogor, West Java, was alleged to be caused by germs during its processing.

"The mass food poisoning is allegedly caused by germs contamination in the wedding reception party`s catering that has been consumed by the guests," said Bogor`s Health Department Head Try Wahyu Harini, here Monday.

According to Try, the health agency has collected some food samples to be tested in the laboratory for any suspicious substances.

"Based on information from the wedding guests, they experienced nausea and vomiting symptoms after consuming food in the reception. Therefore we gather the food samples for laboratory test," noted Try.

Such symptoms are mostly caused by germs in food that consumed by human body, Try added.

Unhygienic and improper cooking process and serving might cause the germs contaminate the food, he said.

The consumed food were served and made solely by the homeowner, not from a food catering company.

"The food is served solely by the homeowner does not use the catering services. The unhygienic cooking and serving process are possibly causing germs," he said.

As earlier reported, that the mass food poisoning that caused 170 people who were attending a wedding reception in a local resident in Bojong Sempu Hamlet, Cilebut Barat Village, Sukaraja sub-district which was held on Sunday, April 8.

Residents were reported to experience nausea, vomiting, abdominal tenderness, fever and diarrhea after consuming the food handouts.

At least 15 people are still undergo medical treatment in the Cibinong general hospital.
