Batam, Riau Islands (ANTARA News) - The Tanjung Kasam steam power plant which has a capacity of 2x55 MW in the Batam city, Riau Islands needed some 40,000 tons of coal per month.

"If the plant is already operating it will need some 40,000 tons of coal per month," Tagor Sijabat, the technical director of state electricity firm PLN for Batam office, said here on Tuesday.

The power plant will have two generators, the first is expected to operate in July 2012 and the second one at the end of the year.

"Coal supplies will come from East Kalimantan. In order to guarantee undisturbed power supply, the Tanjung Kasan power plant is designed to have coal stock for a 20-day operation," he said.
