Beirut (ANTARA News/Xinhua-OANA) - The Lebanese Navy, incoordination with the maritime force of United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), seized on Friday a ship trying to smuggle a large cache of weapons into Syria, the NBN TV network reported.

Security sources told Xinhua the ship was intercepted in Lebanese waters off the northern city of Batroun, and was taken to Selaata port in northern Lebanon, with its crew members arrested.

The source added that the navy was carrying out an inspection on three containers onboard the ship suspected to be filled with arms and ammunition. (*)
