Batusangkar, W Sumatra (ANTARA News) - Some 50 people suffered burns and were rushed to a nearest hospital when a fire truck exploded in Jorong Padang Data Nagari Pagaruyung, Tanahdatar, West Sumatra, at 7 pm local time on Monday.

The victims were now receiving medical treatment at Ali Hanafiah hospital in Batusangkar.

Pagaruyung village head Jamaris Malin Sutan said the truck exploded when it was trying to put out fire on a petrol kiosk which was catching fire.

He said when the fire truck sprayed water into the kiosk, the gasoline inside the kiosk gushed out and showered the truck.

The fire soon licked the gasoline and caused the kiosk and the truck to explode. (*)
