Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The plan by Merpati Nusantara Airlines (MNA)`S pilots to stage a strike on Monday will not disturb the state-owned airlines` operations, its President Director Jhonny Sardjono said here on Monday.

"The company`s operations will proceed smoothy on Monday," he said here when contacted by ANTARA. He said he did not know the details of the planned strike.

Jhonny said the plan of the pilots to stage a strike was not under his control, saying pilots were not a group of people who could at will be asked to stage a strike.

Jhonny who reportedly will soon be replaced by the Ministry of State Enterprises (BUMN) said he had no any message to the person who would succeed him.

A total of 68 MNA pilots have earlier signed a statement questioning the plan to replace Jhonny Sardjono as the MNA president director.

Capt Hendra Yusak, representing his colleagues said on Saturday that a number of pilots would stage a strike if Jhonny was replaced.

Hendra said that Jhonny`s performance as president director of the state-owned airlines was good and that there was no need to replace him. (*)
