Presidential Staff for international affairs Teuku Faizahsyah said in press release here on Sunday that President Silva would arrive in Indoneia on May 22 and pay a working visit until May 24, 2012.
He will have a bilateral meeting with President Yudhoyono. "The visit of Anibal Antonio Cavaco Silva is the first visit by a Portuguese head of state since Indonesia and Portugal established diplomatic ties in 1950.
"Therefore, both sides will use this momentum to reinforce their commitment to building strong and closer relations and cooperation in the future," he said in a press statement.
The Portuguese president will visit Indonesia at the invitation of President Yudhoyono.
Besides by Mrs Maria Cavaco Silva, the Portuguese President will also be accompanied by five members of Portuguese parliament and 20 business players.
The Portuguese President will hold a bilateral meeting with Yudhoyono on May 22, 2012. The two leaders will then witness the signing of a number of memorandums of understanding (MoU).
Yudhoyono will also host a state banquet in honor of his guest.
On May 23, Dr Anibal Antonio Cavaco Silva is scheduled to attend an Indonesian-Portuguese business forum, deliver a general lecture at the University of Indonesia and attend an exhibition held to commemorate five centuries of Indonesia-Portugal relations.
"The participation of 20 business players in the Portuguese president`s entourage is expected to produce agreement on trade and investment," Faizahsyah said.
President Yudhoyono has just concluded his two-day visit to Timor Leste to attend the inauguration of Timor Leste`s new President Taur Matan Ruak and the 10th anniversary restoration of Timor Leste independence.
Yudhoyono also held bilateral talks with Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao and outgoing President Ramos Horta. The Portuguese president also attended the functions.(*)
