Pasaman Barat Regent Baharuddin R said the plant belongs to the Korea Electric Power Industrial Development Group (KEPID Group) of four big companies in Korea, namely Korea District Heading Corp (KDHC), Korea Oduthevn Power (KOPO), Industrial Bank of Korea (IBK), Joennan National University and PT.BPJ of Indonesia.
"The company has made visits on Saturday (May 19) and Sunday (May 20). They were inspecting the oil palm processing process into CPO, and the location of the factory.
The investors who came to Pasaman Barat were Kim Young Han, Lee Dong Gyu, Lee Yoon Soo, Jeon Yoon Jong, Sung Seung Il, Oh Se Jin, Lee Sang Ho, Lee Jei Sun, Kim Sang Bun, Ryu Sang Jung, Lee Hyun Woo, Yoon Sung Hyun and Sjukrianto.
Baharudin said the regional administration will give the necessary protection to those wishing to make an investment in his area as it has 150,784 hectares of oil palm plantations with a production capacity of 453,598 tons of CPO per year.
President Director of KEPID Group Yoon Sung Hyun said he was very impressive to see the wide area of the oil palm plantations in Pasaman Barat regency.
He said after observing the potential, he will build several factories.
Oil palm waste is very useful for development into a source of electricity for the people of Pasaman Barat as well as for export purposes.
"Oil palm is better than coal as a source of energy," Esa said.
In the preliminary stage the Korean investors will be building a plant at a cost of more than Rp340 billion.(*)
