"We are going to increase the homestay funds."Ternate, North Maluku (ANTARA News) - Coordinating Minister for People`s Welfare Agung Laksono has promised more funds for the development of homestay facilities in Morotai district, North Maluku, to ensure the success of Sail Morotai 2012.
"We are going to increase the homestay funds in our effort to support the implementation of the international marine event in September 2012," Agung said during his working visit to Morotai island on Thursday.
He did not specify the value of the funds, but explained that the homestay facilities were being provided in anticipation of an accommodation shortage during Sail Morotai 2012.
"Some 400 habitable houses are being upgraded to make up for the lack of hotel rooms for Sail Morotai participants and guests," Agung said, adding that the houses were being renovated to match up to hotel standards.
Although the homestay facilities have not been completely developed yet, Agung said he saw a lot of progress in what was his fourth visit to Morotai.
During the marine event, the Ministry of Transportation will also provide a ship that will serve as a floating hotel with around 1,000 rooms.
