"The harvest season is still continuing in a number of regions."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government has ensured that there are food stocks in the country to last through the holy fasting month of Ramadhan, which is expected to begin on July 20-21, according to chief economic minister Hatta Rajasa.

"We have enough stocks stored at the warehouses of the state logistics board Bulog," he said here on Tuesday.

Hatta explained that Bulog initially had 1.5 million tonnes of rice stocks from last year. This year, he added, the state agency absorbed an additional 2.4 million tonnes of rice.

Bulog had set itself a target of absorbing about 3 to 3.5 million tonnes of rice stocks in 2012, which it has achieved.

"The harvest season is still continuing in a number of regions. With the current weather conditions, there is no need to worry about rice production. This will enable Bulog to absorb more rice stocks," Hatta said.
