"The project will be built in stages."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - State construction company PT Hutama Karya Persero has projected the planned construction of 22-km sky-train line linking Jakarta and its eastern outskirts of Bekasi will cost an estimated Rp10 trillion.

The sky-train line is a model of inter-mode transportation system which will connect all land transportation means, PT Hutama Karya President Director Tri Widjajanto Joedosastro said on Thursday.

The plan to construct the sky-train line is one of the solution to traffic congestion in Jakarta, he said.

There will be a railway station which will function as a meeting point between electrical train lines and Transjakarta Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system and the meeting point will be in Cawang, East Jakarta, he said.

He said the construction of the sky-train line which will link Slipi in Jakarta to Bekasi will use state budget funds and thus, the train ticket can be kept down to Rp9,000 per person.

"It is likely the ticket will be Rp9,000 after being subsidized. That is one of the reasons why the construction of the project will use state budget funds," he said.

To construct the Slipi-Bekasi sky-train line, PT Hutama Karya will cooperate with state railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia, he said.

The Slipi-Bekasi line will be the first sky-train line. The other sky-train lines will be Bogor-Cawang-Slipi, Slipi-Serpong, Serpong- Soekarno-Hatta Airport lines.

"The project will be built in stages. What is certain is that the model of inter-mode transportation system will integrate electrical train lines, Transjakarta bus rapid transit system, and mass rapid transport (MRT) system," he said.

The sky-train line will be built on the idle part of toll roads, meaning that it will not disturb toll road users, he said.

The concept of sky-train was adopted from developed nations, he said adding the sky-trains will use solar cell which is environmentally friendly, he said.
