Banyuwangi, East Java (ANTARA News) - Two state plantation companies, PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) XII and PTPN XI will build a Rp1.4 trillion sugar factory here this year.

The factory to be named Glenmore Sugar mill, will be the largest and most modern sugar factory in the country, production director of PTPN XII Soewarno said.

The new factory to be operational in 2015, will have a production capacity of 8,000 tons cane sugar per day, Soewarno said here on Saturday.

He said up to 8,000 workers will be needed during construction but only 100 will remain after its completion to run the factory.
