Padang (ANTARA News) - A 4.0-magnitude earthquake shook the West Sumatra provincial capital of Padang on Sunday, according to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG).

The epicenter of the quake which struck at 04.18 p.m. was located 67 km southwest of Padang at a depth of 10 km, the agency said.

"We strongly felt the quake for four seconds," local resident Yunus said.

West Sumatra is one of quake-prone regions in Indonesia.

More than 1,000 people were killed when 7.6-magnitude quake jolted West Sumatra in September 2009.
