"The President has responded well the decision to hold the elections on April 9, 2014 considering that it must have been made upon studies on various factors," he said at a press conference after meeting with the President at the latter`s office here on Monday.
He said in the meeting he had also informed the President that KPU had entered the stage of preparing the legislative elections.
"There are still 22 months left before the day of the elections that we have launched on June 8," he said.
He said the KPU has finished the first stage of the election process on June 9, 2012. "And we will soon enter the second stage in which we would conduct registration, verification and determining participating political parties," he said.
He said the President hailed the KPU preparations for the general elections in 2014.
In the meeting the KPU chairman was accompanied by KPU members including Sigit Pamungkas, Ida Budhiati, Hadar Nafis Gumay, Ferry Kurnia Rizkyansyah and Juri Aridantoro. (M041/BSR/YH)
