Among those dead, five people were in northern provinces of Bac Giang, Yen Bai, respectively, four in Vinh Phuc, three in Phu Tho, two in capital Hanoi, Son La and Lang Son, respectively while Hai Duong, Lao Cai, Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen confirmed one death each.
Three others remained missing, with one in Yen Bai, one in Hanoi and one in Vinh Phuc.
Authorities of the affected provinces and the government are speeding up efforts to find missing people and deal with the aftermath of the storm, said Vietnamese state-run news agency VNA on Sunday.
Although the storm had weakened into a low pressure system and is dissipating, it is forecast to cause heavy rains in the coming days.
