President Yudhoyono and First Lady Ani Yudhoyono were welcomed by the Mongolian President and First Lady at Sukhbataar.
Ulan Bator, Mongolia (ANTARA News) - Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono met with his Mongolian counterpart President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj during a state ceremony at the Sukhbataar square, which is next to Mongolian Government Palace, on Thursday.

President Yudhoyono and First Lady Ani Yudhoyono were welcomed by the Mongolian President and First Lady at Sukhbataar.

Both Presidents were honored by the Mongolian cavalry and troops, before they headed for a private meeting at the government palace. Meanwhile, the delegation from Indonesia held a bilateral meeting with Mongolian representatives from the government palace.

Both Presidents are also scheduled to witness the signing of several memoranda of understanding (MoU) related to the two countries` bilateral partnership.

President Yudhoyono also has plans to meet Mongolian Parliamentary Chief Z. Enkhbold and Prime Minister Althankhuyag.

While in Mongolia, Yudhoyono and the Indonesian delegation are expected to attend a business conference aimed at sharing experiences and promoting economic partnerships with Mongolian businessmen. The meeting will present an opportunity to both countries for exploring business partnership opportunities.

The President and his entourage are expected to leave Mongolia on Friday and travel to Vladivostok in Russia to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit.

Yudhoyono is expected to hold bilateral meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Hu Jintao, Mexican President Felipe Calderon, Peruvian President Ollanta Moses Humala and Chilean President Sebastian Pinera, on the sidelines of the summit.

This is the first time that Russia, an APEC member since 1998, is hosting the summit. APEC was created in 1989 to promote economic cooperation among countries in the Asia Pacific and Pacific Rim regions, such as Taipei and Hong Kong.

The APEC Summit, which is taking place on the Russky Island in the city of Vladivostok in Russia, started on September 2 and is expected to conclude on September 9. (*)
