The DPRK withdrawn from the NPT in 2003, and suspended cooperation with IAEA.Vienna (ANTARA/Xinhua-OANA) - Member states of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) passed a resolution Friday, calling on the Democratic People`s Republic of Korea (DPRK) to "cooperate promptly" with the atomic agency.
The text was adopted without a vote by the General Conference of 155-nation IAEA.
The 4-day 56th IAEA General Conference that ended here on Friday "stresses its desire for a diplomatic resolution of the ( DPRK) nuclear issue so as to achieve the complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula," said the resolution.
It "reaffirms that (DPRK) cannot have the status of a nuclear- weapon state" under the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), which entered into force in 1970 to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons.

Early this month, the DPRK charged that the IAEA has " aggravated the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula," and sided with Washington`s hostile policy towards Pyongyang, adding that their criticism of the DPRK`s construction of a light water reactor is "in view of old standard."
In a recent report, the nuclear watchdog said the DPRK`s construction of the reactor and its uranium enrichment activities have aroused serious concerns.
