Jakarta (ANTARA News) - State-owned bonded zone developer PT Kawasan Berikat Nusantara (KBN) is preparing to become a world-class company, according to KBN president director Raharjo Arjosiswoyo.

He said here on Monday that the firm was already well-known in Asia and was poised to become a global player.

"However, it still lacks the infrastructure to become an international firm because we have yet to build a hospital and a dormitory," Raharjo pointed out.

Therefore, he added, KBN would cooperate with three other state-owned companies in building a laborers` hospital in Cakung, North Jakarta.

The three state companies are workers` insurance firm PT Jamsostek, health insurance firm PT Askes and PT Pelni hospital.

Raharjo said the six-story hospital for laborers would be built on 2.1 hectares of land, at a cost of about Rp150-200 billion.

The funds will come from the consortium of the four state-owned enterprises. The plot of land on which the hospital will be built belongs to PT KBN.

A six-story dormitory will also be built on four hectares of land and will be able to house 2,000 people after the completion of the first phase of construction. The dormitory is expected to be ready in eight months.

"Now, we already have a clinic room and security officials. Fences have been built around the project as well," Raharjo stated.

In the meantime, State-owned Enterprise Minister Dahlan Iskan expressed hope that KBN would build a dormitory which could accommodate daily laborers.

"However, KBN must communicate with residents around the location, particularly with those who own rented rooms," he said.

"We want to discuss whether or not their business would be disturbed," Dahlan stated.

However, he expressed optimism that KBN would soon become an internationally well-known enterprise.
