The suspects had robbed mini-markets from January to September this year in Jakarta and its surrounding areas.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Jakarta police have arrested five "captains" of robbers so far targeting mini-market shops in the city and its surrounding areas.

"The five are believed to be the masterminds," Jakarta Metropolitan Police spokesman Senior Commissioner Rikwanto said here on Monday.

The five suspects are Andre Toardi, Rudi Harsono alias Encek, Ahmad Zaki alias Zaki, Ferri Gultom and Kusnadi alias Embe.

Rikwanto said the suspects had robbed mini-markets from January to September this year in Jakarta and its surrounding areas.

He said the police are still chasing two other suspects namely Jayadi alias Jaya and Slamet alias Mamat.

He said Andre was believed to be the captain of robbers in Alfamart and Indomart mini-market shops.

Andre is recorded to have robbed Alfamart shops in Harapan Indah, Harapan Baru in Slipi, Tambun, Kemang, Jati Asih, Setiabudi, Tanjung Duren, Karet Pedurenan, BSD Tangerang, Circle Ks in Kemang, Otista, Dewi Sartika and Bintara in Bekasi.

Rikwanto said Rudi Harsono alias Encek had acted as a deputy captain and robbed an Alfa Ekspress shop in Kalimalang, Alfamarts in Palmerah, Tanjung Duren, Dewi Sartika, Otista, Bekasi, Serpong, Harapan Indah and an Indomart shop in Palmerah.

Zaki meanwhile had robbed Alfamart shops in Palmerah, Slipi, Tanjung Duren and Kalimalang while Ferry Gultom in Bekasi, Tambung, Slipi and Kusnadi alias Embe in Bekasi, Tambung (twice), Harapan Baru, Harapan Indah and Slipi.

From them he said the police had confiscated knives, cash money in bills and coins, two units of hidden cameras, a car, clothes used when they conducted robberies and a motorcycle. (*)
