"The Hasmi group is a new group and we are still investigating its link."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Police are still investigation possible links between the new Hasmi group and older terrorist groups, Inspector General Suhardi Alius said here on Saturday.

The police anti-terror unit Densus 88 has arrested 11 terror suspects from Hasmi in four cities, including Solo in Central Java, Bogor in West Java, Madiun in East Java and Jakarta.

Hasmi is the short form of Harakah Sunny for Indonesia Community.

"The Hasmi group is a new group and we are still investigating its link with the old groups," the head of the public relations division of the National Police Headquarters, Inspector General Suhardi Alius, said.

Densus 88 first arrested terrorist suspects Agus Anton, alias Thoriz, and Warso, alias Kurniawan, in Madiun at around 8pm on Friday.

"On Saturday at around 11am Densus 88 squads made simultaneous arrests in several cities. In Solo they arrested Abu Hanifah, the chief of the Hasmi group on Jalan Lawu Timur, Mojosongo, Jebres, Solo, in Central Java, and then Harun on Jalan Sumpah Pemuda, and Pujianto, alias Ari alias Ahmadun," Suhardi said.

In Bogor they arrested Emir, alias Emirat, and Zainuddin on Jalan Neglasari Kidul in Leuwiliang, as well as Usman in Cikaret, a two hour drive from Leuwiliang, he said.

In Jakarta Densus 88 arrested Azhar and Herman in Palmerah Barat and Narto in Kebong Kacang, he added.

Suhardi said the group has set four targets to attack: the US embassy in Jakarta; the US consulate general in Surabaya, East Java; Plaza 89 across from the Australian embassy; an office of US mining company Freeport; and Mobile Police Brigade headquarters in Central Java.
