The TNGGP Great Hall will soon increase natural resources conservation by involving the people living in areas surrounding the forest. The protection mechanism will be integrated with the joint efforts of the police.Sukabumi, W Java (ANTARA News) - The Forestry Ministry has increased the safety of endemic wildlife in the Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park (TNGGP) due to recurring instances of poaching of protected animals.
"We have called on the TNGGP Great Hall officials to tighten wildlife safety procedures because the endemic, rare and protected animals are potential targets of poachers," Forestry Ministry public relation official, Sumarto Suharno said here on Friday.
He stated that the TNGGP Great Hall will soon increase natural resources conservation by involving the people living in areas surrounding the forest. The protection mechanism will be integrated with the joint efforts of the police.
Suharno added that the ministry will hand out strict sanctions to poachers in the national park area.
Meanwhile, the ministry also condemned the alleged steps taken by the poachers to intimidate and threaten the Panthera, the volunteers for TNGGP.
"These intimidation activities are crimes which cannot be tolerated and have harassed the government," Suharno said.
The volunteers work with the TNGGP to patrol the forests and save animals from poachers.
"We will continue to cooperate with all parties concerned to save the animals and follow up on illegal activities," he said.(*)
