"The target of my visit is that there will be US companies to invest in the energy sector."
Palembang, South Sumatra (ANTARA News) - South Sumatra Governor H Alex Noerdin will leave for the United States in December this year to offer investment opportunities in the energy and plantation sectors.

"It is true I will visit the US to follow up on US investors` visit in Palembang some time ago," he said here on Friday.

"I am supposed to visit the US in November but they have rearranged my visit to take place at the end of December. The target of my visit is that there will be US companies to invest in the energy sector," he said.

He said South Sumatra is endowed with abundant energy resources.

Meanwhile, Head of the South Sumatra Provincial Development Planning Board Yohanes H Toruan said three US large-scale companies had expressed keen interest in investing in the province after they visited the South Sumatra provincial capital of Palembang some time ago.

The three companies are Caterpillar, Good Year, and Celanis, which produce motor vehicle tires.

A number of US companies are still looking into the possibility of investment in the energy sector in the province.

During the visit, South Sumatra will offer US companies to benefit from an integrated industrial estate in Sungai Lais area in Palembang, he said.

"Only a few companies have been operating in Karyajaya and Sungai Lais integrated industrial estates. If the three US companies operate there, they will significantly contribute to the South Sumatra economy," he said. (Uu.S012/A014)
