We seek the support of society for the safe and proper conduct of this eventNusa Dua, Bali (ANTARA News) - The Bali Regional Police has deployed 2,700 personnel to secure the Bali Democracy Forum (DBF) V, an annual meeting on politics and democracy cooperation, in Nusa Dua, Bali.
"We have deployed a total of 2,700 personnel to support the Indonesian Military (TNI). We seek the support of society for the safe and proper conduct of this event," Bali Regional Police chief, Insp. Gen. Budi Gunawan said here on Monday.
He asked people to cooperate with the strict security checks in some areas such as Nusa Dua, ahead of the event from November 8-9, 2012.
Gunawan added that the police would tighten security along the route to Nusa Dua, the Ngurah Rai airport and the Jimbaran area.
He also said that the police would conduct security drills along access points to Bali such as the Padangbai Port in Karangasem district and the Gilimanuk Port in Jembrana District.
However, Gunawan was reluctant to divulge additional information with regards to any specific threats to the event.
"Some activity is expected along some access points but there are certain details that we cannot speak about. We assure the public that all measures have been taken according to procedure," he said.
