The president said that if Ola is proven guilty to the same crime again, he would review the pardon he had issued to her.
Nusa Dua, Bali (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has requested the police to conduct a transparent investigation of an alleged drug crime committed by Meirika Pranola, a drug convict, who received a presidential clemency earlier.

The president told the press on Friday that Meirika, popularly known as Ola, had been granted clemency because she claimed that she was only a narcotics courier, not a dealer.

"The report I received stated that she is not a drug dealer but a courier, which is why her sentence was reduced," the president said.

He said that the presidential clemency was issued before a new report emerged stating that Ola had once again committed the same crime.

"I received a report that the convict had committed the same crime again. I want this case to be handled by the legal authorities immediately. I want proof that she has distributed narcotics again," the president said.

The president said that if Ola is proven guilty to the same crime again, he would review the pardon he had issued to her.

Therefore, the president requested for legal proceedings immediately, in a transparent manner.

"I may not put blame on the minister for legal affairs or the Supreme Court (MA) for this case. I will issue a new and a just policy once the law proves Ola guilty so that any action that is taken is based on the truth," Yudhoyono said.(*)
