Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA News) - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will develop 15 sub-sectors within the creative economy, one of which is the traditional culinary business.

"Traditional culinary business is a potentially populist economy to be developed. Besides, we can introduce Indonesian traditional cuisine to international tourists and communities," Head of HR Development of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, I Gede Pitana, said here on Friday evening (Nov 7).

Pitana delivered the statement while representing the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Mari Elka Pangestu, at the Tri Hita Karana (THK) tourism awards and accreditation ceremony held at Denpasar Cultural Park.

He further expressed appreciation for the Balinese culinary festival during the event, which saw participation by 28 hotels in Bali.

He said the Ministry would develop 15 sub-sectors within the creative economy, especially those related to tourism, in an attempt to create more jobs and increase local residents' incomes.

Pitana also said the Ministry would continue to support the award initiated by the THK Bali foundation for tourism stakeholders who practice Tri Hita Karana principles in their work environment.

"Tri Hita Karana is a fundamental value to be implemented in every aspect of life, including the economy. It is all about establishing a harmonious relationship with God, nature and fellow human beings," he added.

Chairman of the THK Bali Foundation, IGN Wisnu Wardana, presented the awards to 124 tourism service providers, including government agencies and local administrations taking part in the event.

"Sixty officials from the THK Awards committee evaluated the award recipients on the basis of the implementation of Tri Hita Karana principles in their work environment," Wardana explained.

He noted the 124 award recipients included 31 five-star hotels, 23 four-star hotels, 15 boutique hotels, nine other hotels, five government agencies, nine colleges, nine tourist destinations, and 12 schools.
