"He came as a witness for suspect Didik Purnomo, his former deputy," Djoko`s lawyer Hotma Sitompul said.Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Police Inspector General Djoko Susilo, a suspect in a corruption case in the police traffic force, came to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) headquarters here on Thursday for questioning as a witness.
"He came as a witness for suspect Didik Purnomo, his former deputy," Djoko`s lawyer Hotma Sitompul said.
He came at KPK at 1pm by car in a KPK detainee costume from the KPK detention cell located in a Jakarta Military Police compound in Guntur, South Jakarta.
The former chief of the National Traffic Police Corps immediately entered the KPK building upon arrival and made no statement to newsmen.
"We wish to tell that we follow procedures. Those who say our client is guilty please prove it. KPK has also said so," Hotma said.
KPK named Djoko suspect on July 27 in connection with his alleged involvement in a corruption relating to the procurement of driving simulators.
He was named suspect along with Brigadier General Didik Purnomo, the deputy chief of the Traffic Police Corps, Budi Santoso, the president director of PT Citra Mandiri Metalindo Abadi, that won the bid for the procurement of the driving simulators and Sukotjo S Bambang, the director of PT Inovasi Teknology Indonesia, the sub-contractor of PT Citra Mandiri Metalindo Abadi.
Sukotjo S Bambang has been sentenced to 2.5 years in jail in a separate case for marking up the value of a project relating to driving simulators.
According to KPK initial calculations the loss suffered by the state in connection with the driving simulator procurement case reached Rp100 billion out of Rp198 billion in total budget for the project.
Djoko has been detained since December 3, 2012. (*)
