Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Supreme Court judge M Taufik died of ailment at a Singapore hospital on Monday, a Supreme Court spokesman said.

The body of M Taufik who died at 09.30 a.m. local time will be flown to Jakarta on Monday evening, the spokesman, Djoko Sarwoko said.

Taufik had long suffered ailment. He had been several times treated at hospitals, he added.

Chief of the Supreme Court`s legal affairs and public relations bureau, Ridwan Mansyur said Taufik suffered cancer and respiratory disorders.

"He was ill for a quite long time. I last met him during a coordination meeting in Manado (on October 14-18)," he said.

He got ill after attending the meeting. "He had earlier been treated at a hospital in Indonesia before being flown to Singapore for treatment," he said.

Taufik will be laid in state at the Supreme Court on Tuesday morning before being buried, he added.(*)
