Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta Metropolitan Police Command has dishonorably discharged 99 of its officers this year for various serious violations.

"The number is up by 26 percent from that of 2011," command chief Inspector General Putut Eko Bayuseno said here on Thursday.

He said among the violations committed by the officers were desertion, narcotic drugs abuse, torture, gun misuse, violence and others.

In terms of ranking the number was down from 275 in 2011 to 216 this year or 21.45 percent.

He said the number of mid rank officers discharged was 19 while the rest was from lower ranks.

The command meanwhile has awarded 51 personnel for showing outstanding performance and dedication in the year. The number however was smaller by nine persons or 15 percent from last year`s.
