The two children, aged 16 and 18, were swept away, as far as tens of meters from the coastline, said Dede Sumarna, head of the Sukabumi coast guard agency.
Coast guards present at the area rescued the children as they were being swept away by sea water, he said.
By the time the coast guards found them, they were exhausted, he said.
On December 30, 2012, the coast guards had rescued three tourists at the same beach.
