... Other sentiments are quite mixed both from Europe and Japan... "
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The value of the Indonesian currency rupiah was almost unchanged in the new year's first day trading.

The currency traded at 9,628 to the US dollar in inter-bank transaction here on Wednesday morning.

"The fluctuation is minimal, but tended to be positive probably due to intervention by Bank Indonesia," Trust Securities' analyst Reza Priyambada said here .

The market reacted positively to step taken by US President Barack Obama in planning further talks on fiscal cliff, Reza said.

"Other sentiments are quite mixed both from Europe and Japan," he said.

He said Chinese data gave positive sentiments to the market including in Indonesia giving greater hope of global economic recovery.

Market analyst from Bank Himpunan Saudara Rully Nova said Indonesian trade deficit still held the rupiah from climbing. He said Bank Indonesia still continues intervention in rupiah trading.(AS/f001)
