Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vice President Boediono has urged the Attorney General to ensure that Asian Agri honours the Supreme Court`s verdict by paying a fine of Rp2.5 trillion.

"The Supreme Court, the Directorate General of Tax and the Attorney General Office have worked hard on this case, and they have been fair in their judgement," he said at a press conference on Monday.

The press conference was organised to look into the implementation of the Presidential Instruction Number 1 (2011), to accelerate the handling of legal cases and tax violations.

Boediono said the Asian Agri case had been monitored by the coordination team because of the volume of losses suffered by the state.

According to the Supreme Court, Asia Agri`s former tax manager, Suwir Laut, is responsible for the state`s losses. She has been sentenced to two years in prison, with three years probation.

According to the Supreme Court, 14 companies that belong to the Asia Agri Group have to pay a fine of Rp2.5 trillion, as their taxes were filed by Suwir Laut.

Several civil servant investigators (PPNS) are looking into the cases of nine other suspects.

Vice President Boediono has requested the minister for justice to show appreciation to the justice collaborator, who had managed to settle the case smoothly.

The conference was attended by the coordinating minister for political, legal and security affairs, Djoko Suyanto, the minister for justice and human rights, Amir Syamsuddin, the minister for finance, Agus Martowardoyo, the chief of the National Police`s Crime Investigation Agency, Commissioner General Sutarman, and the head of the President`s Working Unit for Development Supervision and Control, Kuntoro Mangkusubroto.
