"There is a possibility that strong winds will hit Indonesia."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - According to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), strong winds are likely to hit Indonesia.
"There is a possibility that strong winds will hit Indonesia. People should try to be far away from tress, billboards and old buildings," said the Head of Data Center, Information and Public Relations at BNPB, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, on Friday.
According to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), strong winds may occur two days ahead of schedule, because of the impact of the tropical cyclone, Narelle, which has hit the Indian Ocean.
Although Indian Ocean is far away from Indonesia, it is possible that the impact of the cyclone will be felt in Indonesia.
The tropical cyclone can have an impact on the weather conditions in Indonesia, in the form of heavy downpours in West Nusa Tenggara, Sumbawa and East Nusa Tenggara.
Light and patchy rain is evident in South Kalimantan, Lampung and Banten.
There is a possibility that high tides will reach a height of four feet in the waters around Western Enggano, Lampung, East Riau, North Niagara Pinang, and in the Northern Sunda Strait, Gelasa Strait, Java Sea and the Gulf of Bone Wakatobi.
There is a possibility that high tides will exceed four meters in height in the Southern Sunda Strait, Savu Sea, Java Sea, and in the waters around Banten, West Nusa Tenggara, Sumba, Kupang and Rote Island.
Apart from floods, Indonesia could be hit by landslides and cyclones, Sutopo said.
