Both nations had many things in common particularly with regard to the current global situation, President Yudhoyono said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said on Thursday Indonesia and Argentina have agreed to support each other at multilateral forums.

Both nations had many things in common particularly with regard to the current global situation, Yudhoyono said at a joint press conference with Argentine President Cristina Elisabet Fernandez De Kirchner following bilateral talks held earlier in the day.

He said the two countries were looking forward to encouraging fairer global trade rules.

To that end, they agreed to support each other in the next rounds of WTO talks as well as in the placement of their respective representatives in international bodies, such as the United Nations, he said.

Meanwhile, President Kirchner affirmed the agreement. "At multilateral forums we will support each other as indicated by the President (Yudhoyono)," she said.

She also criticized the way by which developed nations had seen developing nations` renewable energy policies.

"Everyday developed nations talk about the importance of renewable energy. But when developing countries talk about renewable energy we feel global discrimination because there have been attempts made by developed nations to prevent developing nations` efforts," she said.

On the occasion, Yudhoyono also expressed support for Argentina`s bid for United Nations Security Council (UNSC) non-permanent membership.

"We will support Argentina`s bid for the UNSC non-permanent membership for the 2013-2014 term. Both of us have agreed that at the UNSC forum there must be new approaches to face different world," he said. (*)
